Day of Boredom

Sometimes you just have one of those days.  Nothing to do, nobody to play with.  You have to be creative.  This is Isabelle keeping her hair out of her face with some old witch tights that used to fit her once upon a time.
Pretty ingenious, I'd say.

This is what I do when I'm bored, nothing to do and nobody to play with.  I paint things.  I decided to get started on my kitchen makeover yesterday by painting the island.  I want it to be different than the cabinets which will be white.  I already had some of this gray paint, so I thought "why not?"

It looks darker in the first picture and lighter in the second.  Either way, I like it.  I wish the cabinets were done, but then what would I do on a boring day?

girl's rooms

So.  Emily has the lockers in her room.  She begged and I relented.  She had more use of it than I did. They actually look pretty good in there.  We were able to eliminate alot of things she had in her room that were making it cramped and crowded, so that's a good thing.  That girl has alot of stuff and she was able to fill up almost all of the lockers.  I think only two are still empty.
The paint color will be changing in her room soon.  She thinks she wants a creamy buttery yellow.  We hung a chalkboard on the side with her work schedule on it to keep her organized and we stacked the top with lots of cute things.
Isabelle got a little room makeover when Emily passed down some of her things.  She's happy too.

It's fun to change up a room once in awhile!

A little help here

I found these old lockers at a yard sale this morning.  This woman had so much stuff I could have bought it all.  Old stuff that her mother in law had been collecting for years.  Old birdcages, an old cabinet to display dishes, vintage retro looking lawn chairs and lots more.  But I kind of like to be married, and if I'd bought more that these lockers, I probably wouldn't be much longer.
So here's my question for all of you:  Do I leave them as they are in their faded, rusted old paint state.  Or do I make them fresh looking with a new coat of paint.  I know.  It probably depends on what I'm going to use them for.  And I don't know yet.  Maybe that depends on if I leave them or paint them.  You see the dilema??

This is to show you the size of these things. And the lockers are deep!  I just love them for some reason.

So what's your vote?

Some good finds

Emily is turning out to be alot like me in some ways.  She loves to decorate and thinks about ways to use things for decorating.  She's also got an eye for good finds.  Last weekend she came home with this old door she found on the side of the road in our neighborhood.  She knew I would like it.  She was right!
It just needed to be cleaned up a little and I took the hinges off because they weren't old enough looking.  But it's chippiness makes me happy.
And I found this white wire basket and vase of flowers at Savers last week.  I like the look they all make together.

FREE + CHEAP = HAPPY

check out Boren Sisters

I don't know why the post on Boren Sisters isn't showing up on the side bars, but there's a new post.
