It was hard!
Isabelle and I were outside this afternoon eating a snack and enjoying the nice weather. I decided to pull a few weeds and do a little sweeping. We were pulling weeds and talking. She thought some of the little weeds were really hard to get out. We went around the corner where the shed is and there were weeds back there almost as tall as isabelle! She started pulling on one and got the top pulled off and only a little stub was left. She said she wanted to do it without my help. The roots on this sucker were deep!! I got her a screwdriver and she kept working at it. It must have been about ten minutes and she finally got it out. Then she said. "That was harder than math at school!" I love that girl!!!

Facebook?
Does anybody out there have a facebook? I'm not sure about it. It seems like a good way to contact people you haven't seen in a lonnnnngggg time. I went ahead and created a profile but I'm too chicken to contact anyone. What if that person doesn't remember me? Or what if their wife gets mad that some woman is trying to contact her husband? I'm kinda just waiting around for someone to contact me. I may be waiting awhile.

Bedtime
I had a boyfriend Patty
who came from Cincinnatti
With forty eight toes and a pickle on his nose
And this is the way my story goes
One day as I was walking
I heard my boyfriend talking
To a pretty little girl
with strawberry curls
and this is what he said to her
I L-O-V-E love you
I K-I-S-S kiss you
I K-I-S-S kiss you
on your F-A-C-E face, face face.
That is Isabelle's favorite bedtime song. Hopefully she doesn't think about it very hard.

My Dog Zero
Bethany posted something about her dog, so I'm going to do the same. We (I) have a dog named Zero. He loves me the most and pretty much doesn't let me out of his sight. Whenever Phillip is hugging me or playing around with me, Zero is right there, ready to protect me! The kids named him after the dog from Nightmare Before Christmas. He's a Yorkie Mix. He is just about the best dog we've ever had. He fetches, obeys, snuggles and he DOESN'T SHED.
But if he doesn't stop peeing on my flowers.......he's cruisin' for a bruisin'!

Nothing New
Wish that I had something new to blog about, but I don't. Went to lunch with a couple of friends I haven't seen in a long time today. That was fun. One of them lost her 20 yr. old son to cancer a year ago. I taught him in Sunday School when he was fifteen. She is an amazing example of strength. Seems like the same happy Kim. Her son went through normal teenage rebellion and put them through alot. But she said she would take it again in a minute if she could just pick up the phone and yell at him. But she can't. Even in my hardest days I wouldn't want that to happen. I'm going to stop and think a little more now. At least I can still yell at him and maybe someday I won't even remember the struggles and the moments I wanted to tear my hair out. (likely, because I have a terrible memory.) And things are never as bad as they could be. Just my philosophy for today.

Talent Show

Today was the annual Talent Show at Desert Valley Elementary School. Isabelle tried out and made it. She sang "A Dream is a Wish your Heart Makes" from Cinderella. That's why she is wearing the Cinderella dress (found at a yard sale for $1.00. Go Mom!) Last year she dressed up as Mulan and sang "Reflection". I see a princess theme going on here. We were both so nervous. I think me more than her. You'd think I would be used to this sort of thing by now. I videoed it with my phone but forgot to save it because I was so nervous. I will get a second chance tomorrow because she is in it both days. She did an amazing job! So, So, Proud of her. It was so cute to go to her classroom after it was over and see her class congratulating her. And to quote the words of one of her classmates, "You Rock Isabelle!!!"

So I went to the Dentist today. I'm due for a new toothbrush. After flossing (almost every day) and brushing the way they told me to, I have improved my teeth and gums greatly. The Hygentist raved about how well I've done! I was really looking forward to getting that new toothbrush as my reward for all of my effort. I even knew which color to pick out so as not to get the same one as the hubby got a few weeks ago.
No new toothbrush. They are not giving out adult toothbrushes anymore. What the.........!!!!
Oh well, guess I'll give the dog a bath.

Good Movie!
I try to find movies to rent sometimes that aren't new releases that I haven't seen before. This one looked interesting to me so I rented it and hoped for the best. Maybe some of you have heard of it or seen it. It's called "I Am David". It's adapted from Anne Holm's internationally acclaimed novel "North to Freedom". I highly reccommend this movie. It's PG, no nudity, language, guts or gore. There are some war images, but nothing really disturbing. Just a feel good, touching, get your kleenex out movie. The kind Hollywood needs to make more of!

Correction
I have to make a correction to what Isabelle said. She told me I got it wrong (awful memory I have). She said she asked me if I had to pick a favorite child or am I a neutral party? I was pretty close the first time but it wasn't exactly what she said. It's a really good thing I'm not a reporter. So sad about the Cardinals. But it was a dang good game to watch!!!

Drivers Beware

Been a busy day. After spending a total of about three hours in the DMV today, Logan was able to leave with his drivers permit. Look out! I think he's probably a good driver, but he'll only be driving with Phillip at first. Wouldn't smile for the picture. Stubborn!!
And I don't mean to keep bragging(actually, I do. When your kids do something to brag about you have to run with it) Amanda received a letter today stating she has been chosen to receive the ASU University scholarship. $2,700 a year towards her school expenses for up to four years. WOO HOO!!!!

A Hole In One!!!!
Congratulations go out to my sweetie today for making a Hole In One! He said the odds of doing that are like 300,000 to 1 or something like that. This is his first one and he was quite thrilled. Also Logan is voluntarily doing the dishes right now (I'm sure he wants something). And Amanda is out fetching some Panda Express for dinner. A Good day.
Names
The other night Isabelle wanted to think of possible girl names she could name her girls when she has some. SHE'S EIGHT!!!! But I went along with it and we came up with some pretty good ones...Sophie, Abigail, Ella,. Then Amanda and Emily asked me what kind of name is Becky? They said they can't imagine being named Becky, Rebecca maybe, but who names their child Becky? Aren't kids great!?!

The Dreaded Math Lesson

It was inevitable. Second grade math. Subtraction with borrowing. Isabelle doesn't understand it. When Phillip tells her to get her homework, Amanda and Emily exchange nervous glances. They've been there before. They know all too well how it goes. They want to rescue her but can't. She has to go down that road alone. She WILL understand substraction with borrowing by the time they're done. Even if it takes all night. Even if there's tears. And there's always tears. But she will pass through it just like they did. She will be excellent in math just like they are. And the math lessons will be no more. Until the grandkids don't understand subtraction with borrowing. But I'll make sure they don't tell Grandpa.

Way to Go Amanda!
Amanda received her acceptance letter to the College of Nursing, ASU downtown campus. We're still trying to figure this whole college thing out. But that was her first choice college and major. If she decides to go there she can still live at home to save expenses plus her in state tuition scholarship will really help also. She wants to be a surgical nurse. She really would like to be a medical examiner but surgical nurse seemed the better choice to have a family. My baby is all grown up.
P.S. I have a son for sale if anyone is interested. But if you don't like to be told you're stupid, better not buy him.
