Forcing Spring

I'm not a very patient person at times.  I used to sneak and peak at my Christmas presents as a kid.  I learned it's better to wait.  But I don't want to wait on Spring any longer.  I want it nowwww!!!!!!  (Do you know what movie that's from?) Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
Anyway, I decided to just bring some Spring inside.  While everything outside is crispy and crunchy from the big freeze here, I can still have a little spring inside.  One thing that isn't crispy and crunchy is my hedge in front of my window.  It stays green and pretty all year long.  So I went out and trimmed some off and stuck in this cute little grape vine wreath.

I put together this little vinnette for my hutch

And put some Spring in this box my parents made and gave to me for Christmas

The mantle needed a little something.  I found this cute rabbit at Homegoods.

 I've had my eye on these little potted plants at Homegoods for awhile

 

I liked the little grapevine wreath so much I decided to make a bigger one for the front door.  And because I already had the grapevine, it was free.  Except for the burlap on a roll I got at walmart.  I love it, I've used it for so many things.

 Who knows how long the wreaths will stay green, but good thing I know where to get more.

 Sadly, as I was sprucing things up, hubby was cutting things down.  Those trees were so green and gorgeous before the cold snap.  I hope they come back even better than before.

Sometimes I can be crafty

I don't consider myself very good at crafts.  I do ok, but it's not my calling in life.  But I love banners for the holidays.  Sometimes I can come up with an idea myself and sometimes I borrow others.  I saw this idea on Sugar Baby Boutique and it was just what I was looking for.  And best of all, I had all the supplies.  Check out hers, it's really cute.  Here is my version:

It's made from book pages, scrapbook paper, and I embellished it with buttons and flowers.
I used rub on letters that I found at Goodwill for $1. 
I also used those same letters on my sugar jar

Back to my mantle.  I made this coffee filter wreath with my mom.

Her and my Dad had already done all the work of tea staining them and twisting them, (dad spent alot of time opening all of them up) then we just glued them on a wreath form and attached a flower.  I think it looks so cute on my Spring Mantle.

Now back to Goodwill (stay with me, I know it's confusing) I found these cute little letter tacks for $2.

Emily has been making bracelets, so I gave them to her to use in her jewelry making.  Here's one she made using the letters.

She made this one for me before I bought the letters, so I'm going to have her add my initial to mine.

And speaking of jewelry, back to my Dad.  He gave me this cool little clock pendant.  It doesn't look like a clock when hanging on the chain.

But wait, it twirls and spins and there is a clock inside.  Thanks Dad!

So that's my crafty story.  And I'm sticking to it.

Spring at my house

Is is Spring yet?  I haven't looked at the calendar to see if it's official, I just go by how I feel.  And I feel like it's Spring.   I got my hands dirty yesterday and Springified my house.  I planted some more flowers in the front flower bed.

They smell so good and look so pretty.

I hung my Spring wreath on the door.

It looks a little sad and thrown together, I'll have to freshen it up later.

I got this huge pot at a yard sale last summer I think, and it's just been sitting around.  So I gave it a little paint job, not a very good one, but maybe it looks a little aged now?  Yeah that's it, it looks aged now.  Planted some flowers and put it in between the two garage doors to give the driveway a little Spring.

This is a sitting area outside my bedroom door, on the back patio.  I got these chairs at a thrift store, painted them gray and called it good.  Planted the flowers in a tin planter to give it some Spring.

I started these seeds inside a few weeks ago and we converted this box that used to be the firepit into our new garden.  It's an itty bitty baby garden.  We'll see how it does.

It's fun to get your hands in the dirt and watch things grow.  What have you done to welcome Spring?
